25 years of award-winning custom car audio, head unit upgrades, and precision fabrication. We're not a fitment centre — we engineer sound experiences. By consultation only.
We're selective about the work we take on. This isn't for everyone — and that's by design.

Real builds. Real results.
Most shops cut corners you'll never see — until your system fails, sounds flat, or damages your vehicle. Here's the truth about what happens behind closed doors.
They use CCA (Copper-Clad Aluminium) wiring because it's cheap. CCA has significantly higher resistance than real copper, generates more heat under load, and the aluminium core corrodes when exposed to moisture. Over time, connections oxidise, resistance builds, and your amp works harder than it should. You paid for 1000W — you're getting 600W at the speaker. Worse — CCA is a genuine fire risk. The higher resistance generates heat at connection points, and combined with poor crimps and cheap fuse holders, this creates hotspots that can melt insulation and ignite. There are documented cases of vehicle fires caused by inferior CCA power wiring in car audio installations.
We use 100% OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) on every single install — power, ground, speaker, and signal. Lower resistance, superior conductivity, zero signal loss, and critically — no fire risk from heat buildup. Proper OFC wiring with correctly rated fusing and solid crimped connections means your system runs cool and safe. Your amplifier delivers its full rated power to your speakers, exactly the way the manufacturer designed it. It costs more — because your safety and your vehicle are worth more.
Fitment centres need to run power cable from the battery through the firewall to the amplifier in the boot. Their solution? Drill a hole straight through the firewall with no planning. They hit wiring looms, brake lines, and ECU harnesses they can't see behind the panel. Sharp metal edges slice through cable insulation over time with engine vibration. No grommet, no sealant — water gets in, exposed copper touches bare metal, and you now have a dead short that can cause an electrical fire while the car is parked. This isn't theory — it happens. They also leave the hole unsealed, letting engine fumes, water, and road noise flood your cabin.
We use existing factory grommets and cable pass-throughs wherever possible — because the manufacturer already engineered a safe path. When a new penetration is unavoidable, we plan the exact location, avoid all factory wiring and components, use properly fitted rubber grommets to protect the cable from metal edges, and seal the penetration with automotive-grade sealant. Every cable is routed away from heat sources, secured with proper clips, and fused within 300mm of the battery. No shortcuts. No exposed wiring. No fire risk.
This is one of the worst shortcuts in car audio. Fitment centres tap into your factory speaker wires and use a cheap high-to-low converter (line output converter) to feed your new amplifier. This takes an already-processed, EQ'd, compressed factory signal and degrades it further. You get noise, distortion, and a signal that's been butchered before your amp even sees it. Your R15,000 amplifier is now amplifying garbage.
We use proper RCA pre-outs, DSP processors, or OEM integration modules designed for your vehicle. The signal stays clean from source to speaker. If your factory head unit doesn't have pre-outs, we use a DSP with OEM input that properly de-EQ's the factory signal — giving your amplifier a flat, clean input to work with. This is how car audio is supposed to be done. The difference is night and day.
Fitment centres wire it up, turn it on, twist the bass knob, and hand you the keys. No time alignment. No crossover tuning. No frequency response correction. Your sub is fighting your door speakers. Your tweeters are harsh. The soundstage is in your footwell instead of in front of you. They don't own a measurement microphone because they don't know what one is.
Every APEX system gets professional DSP calibration with measurement microphones. We set time alignment so every driver reaches your ears at exactly the right moment. We tune crossover points, EQ curves, and phase for your specific vehicle cabin. The result? The music sits in front of you, between the pillars — like a private concert. This is the difference between "loud" and "incredible".
A universal "one-size-fits-all" premade MDF box from a catalogue. They don't calculate anything — they grab whatever box is in stock and bolt your sub into it. Wrong internal volume for your specific subwoofer. Wrong port tuning (if it's even ported). Rattles against your boot trim because it wasn't designed for your vehicle. Built with staples and PVA glue. The subwoofer specs call for 28 litres tuned to 32Hz — they gave you a 45 litre box tuned to who-knows-what because that's what was on the shelf. Your sub sounds boomy, muddy, one-note, and imprecise. You're hearing the box resonating, not the music.
We CAD-design every enclosure from scratch using the subwoofer's Thiele & Small parameters — the scientific measurements that define exactly how a driver behaves in a given airspace. With 25+ years of acoustic engineering knowledge, we calculate the precise internal volume, port length, tuning frequency, and enclosure type (sealed, ported, bandpass) to extract the maximum performance from your specific driver. The result? Bass that's deep, fast, musical, and controlled — not boomy. When given sufficient space, we can make a single subwoofer outperform two subs in a generic box. Every enclosure is built to fit your vehicle's boot perfectly, finished to show quality, and engineered to deliver the exact frequency response the driver was designed for.
Grey imports, parallel imports, Takealot specials, or Chinese clones with fake branding. No factory warranty. No local support. When it fails in 6 months, they shrug. Some sell refurbished units as new. The Rockford Fosgate amp you think you bought? Check the serial number — it might not be in their system because it's not a genuine unit, or it was never intended for the South African market.
We are an authorized Rockford Fosgate dealer — every product comes with full factory warranty, backed by the SA distributor. Genuine products, genuine serial numbers, genuine support. We also stock Helix, Brax, Match, Audiocontrol, DUDU AUTO, Cerwin Vega, Silent Coat, and Smart Navi — all through official channels. Your investment is protected.
Cut factory wiring looms. Drilled through panels without grommets. Tapped into CAN bus lines incorrectly. Used scotch locks and electrical tape instead of proper connectors. When your vehicle goes back to the dealer, they see the butchered wiring and void your electrical warranty. You saved R2,000 on the install and lost your R50,000 warranty coverage.
We use vehicle-specific harness adapters, plug-and-play connectors, and proper CAN bus interfaces. No cut factory wiring. No hacked looms. Everything is reversible. If your vehicle ever goes back to the dealer, the factory wiring is untouched. Your vehicle warranty stays intact. This is non-negotiable at APEX — we do it right or we don't do it at all.
Don't take our word for it. Every review is verified on Google.
